Hello,
We
are the Brown family, and we are starting a church in Midlothian,
VA. My name is Michael Brown, and I work as a computer programmer
in Richmond. My wife's name is Crickett, and she is a stay-at-home
mom who homeschools our four children ages 10, 7, 4, and 2.
We
will start meeting as soon as we find 3 or 4 families who want to
join us.
Here
is the vision that God has laid on our hearts for starting this church:
Family-integrated
- This means the whole family stays together during church. There
will be no Sunday school. Parents will never need to worry that a
topic is presented that isn't appropriate for young ears. God designed
young children to make some noise and get hungry, so we will help
them and feed them. Everyone in our church will understand this to
be normal. In our church, the young children will be welcomed as Jesus
welcomed them.
Wonderful
music - Our music will be modern
praise and worship mixed with a few hymns. No bands on a stage, no
guitar solos, and the volume will always be low - no earplugs needed.
Songs will not repeat endlessly. The focus will be on worshipping
our Lord, not the musicians. We will start with piano accompaniment
and add other light instruments as the ministry grows.
Messages
that can be understood - The message
that is brought each week will be easy to understand and presented
in plain English. No one will leave wondering what that was all about.
Young children should be able to understand the message, and families
will want to discuss it at home during the week. Teaching will be
from the Bible, which is God's word. The Gospel message will be presented
every week in case there is someone listening who has not received
Christ as Savior.
Sharing
time - Anyone who wants to will
be able to share with the group what God is doing in their lives or
ask for prayer.
Video
presentations - We will view short
video segments on a variety of Christian topics. The videos will always
be suitable for all ages.
Shared
meal - We will bring lunch each
week and share a meal together.
